Open Access Databases

The following databases do not require an SGU Library login as they are "Open Access".   Open Access Databases are online research outputs that are free of all restrictions on access (e.g., access tolls) and free of many restrictions on use (e.g. certain copyright and license restrictions). Open access can be applied to all forms of published research output, including peer-reviewed and non peer-reviewed academic journal articles, conference papers, theses, book chapters, and monographs..  Once logged in, you will remain logged in until you close your browser. 

American Doctoral Dissertations, 1933 - 1955

Contains twenty-two years of dissertation research and is the only comprehensive record of dissertations accepted by American universities during that time period. 

Directory of Open Access Journals

Free, full text, quality controlled scientific and scholarly journals, covering all subjects and many languages.

ETHOS (Electronic Thesis Online Service)

A database of doctorial theses' from the United Kingdom .

Google Books

Google Books is a service from Google Inc. that searches the full text of books and magazines that Google has scanned, converted to text using optical character recognition, and stored in its digital database. Books are provided either by publishers and authors, through the Google Books Partner Program, or by Google's library partners, through the Library Project.  Additionally, Google has partnered with a number of magazine publishers to digitize their archives

National Academies Press

Provides access to electronic versions of over 4,000 titles published by the National Academies Press. Download free PDF books covering a range of topics in science, engineering, and health.

Open Access Dissertations & Theses

Provides the full text of open access dissertations and theses from a variety of disciplines.

Oklahoma Digital Collections

A list of digital collections available from Oklahoma libraries. This list includes a brief description and the URL.


PubMed comprises more than 21 million citations for biomedical literature from MEDLINE, life science journals, and online books. Citations may include links to full-text content from PubMed Central and publisher web sites.

A database from EBSCOHost indexing articles on key education topics such as Assessment, Continuing Education, Current Pedagogical Research, Curriculum Development, Instructional Media, Language Arts, Literacy Standards, Science and Mathematics, and more. (Not full text).

World Digital Library

Provides online access to primary materials from countries and cultures around the world, including manuscripts, maps, rare books, musical scores, recordings, films, prints, photographs, and architectural drawings.
