Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a service for obtaining materials that are not owned by the James J. Kelly Library.  This service is available only to currently enrolled SGU students (both CAS & CWA), faculty, and staff.

Requesting a Book through Interlibrary Loan

When you need a book that the James J. Kelly Library doesn't own, the library may be able to borrow it for you from another library. Before submitting a request, please check the catalog to make sure the item is not available in the library.

Locate books owned by other libraries by searching WorldCat. Once you have found a record for the needed book, use that information to fill out an ILL Book Request form.

Please be as specific as possible - the more details you provide about an item, the easier it is for the library to locate and borrow it for you.

Remember to include your contact information on the request form so we can notify you when the item has arrived at the library.

Requesting an Article through Interlibrary Loan

While searching the library's databases, if you find a journal article that is unavailable online or in print, the library may be able to borrow it for you from another library.

Locate the record for the needed article in one of the databases available through the library's website. Once you have found a record for the article, use that information to fill out an ILL Article Request form.

Please be as specific as possible - the more details you provide about an item, the easier it is for the library locate and borrow it for you.

Remember to include your contact information on the request form so we can notify you when the item has arrived at the library.

Waiting for materials to arrive at the library

A loan request may take anywhere from 1 to 4 weeks to arrive, depending upon location and availability.

Finding out materials have arrived at the library

The contact information you provide on the loan request form will be used to notify you when the materials arrive.  Upon arrival, ILL materials will be checked out to you and held for pickup at the library's Circulation Desk.
